AT Low-Interest Loan
Although funding is available for some AT devices, several device categories are rarely covered by the usual funding sources (private insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid). AT devices such as hearing aids, ramps, and vehicle modifications are often purchased with personal funds or not purchased at all.
In 2003, DATI began developing two low-interest AT loan programs, the Delaware Assistive Technology Loan Fund and the Delaware Telework Equipment Loan Program in order to help Delawareans get the AT they need and want. Both the AT Loan Fund and the Telework Loan Program will enable individuals to borrow funds for AT purchases at below-market interest rates and with reasonable repayment schedules.
Once established, these loan programs will be administered by
the
Delaware
Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the DATI
in conjunction with local banks.
DE AT Loan Fund
The Delaware Assistive Technology Loan Fund will offer funds for all types of AT, home modifications, and adapted vehicles. If you would like more information regarding the AT Loan Fund, please contact the DATI funding specialist.
DE Telework Equipment Loan Program
The Delaware Telework Equipment Loan Program will provide funds for the purchase of computers and other adaptive equipment that allow people with disabilities to be employed from home. If you would like more information regarding the Telework Loan Program, please contact please contact the DATI funding specialist.
In order for these programs to begin operation, $345,000 must be raised from state and private sources so that the federal government will release matching funds in excess of $1.3 million. If you would like to support the loan program, please contact DATI for more information.
